Microneedling

Microneedling is a skin treatment that uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response and encourages the production of collagen and elastin, proteins that help keep the skin firm, smooth, and elastic.

Microneedling may help improve skin texture and the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, enlarged-looking pores, and uneven skin tone.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

The number of sessions depends on the individual’s skin concerns and treatment goals.

  • One session: Skin may temporarily appear brighter or smoother as it heals.

  • Three to six sessions: Often used for concerns such as acne scars and skin texture, with treatments spaced several weeks apart.

  • Maintenance: Some people choose occasional follow-up treatments depending on their goals.

Results vary, and deeper acne scars may require additional or alternative treatments.

Is Microneedling Safe?

When performed by a qualified professional using sterile equipment, microneedling is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects may include redness, swelling, irritation, infection, scarring, or changes in pigmentation.

Treatment should be avoided over active acne or skin infections. People with existing skin conditions or a tendency to develop keloid scars should consult an appropriate health professional before treatment.
